Wasn't it ALL Done at the Cross?

Mark Virkler's picture

Question: I had a question posed to me that I couldn't answer and I would like to get your take on it. A friend recently asked, “Why doesn't the new birth absolve generational sins and curses in a person's life when they come to Jesus? How can they continue when we have been forgiven of all and purchased with a price? Why wouldn't the blood of Jesus cleanse us of that?" That's a fair question and coming from someone who is, as Tommy Tenney would say, a God-chaser. I know that she was sincere and trying to understand. Can you help me with this? I have seen generational sins broken and people set free from them. I just don't know how to answer this one aspect of the subject.  Keith Stone, Dayton Ohio

Perspective; Unlocking Secrets

Tara Dulin's picture

I quiet myself: “I am here, Lord. I ask for vision. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, that I may see You. Open the ears of my heart that I may hear You.”

I sing: “Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You. I want to see You. High and lifted up. Shining in the light of Your glory. Pour out Your power and love. You are holy, holy, holy. Holy, holy, holy. You are holy.”

What about fasting?

Ben Lunis's picture

Holy Lord God, my heavenly Father, Daddy, when I read through Joel again, my attention was drawn to Joel 1:14 and 2:15. You so wanted Your people to return to You that You desired them to consecrate a fast as part of the process. Today, I hear little about proclaiming fasts as part of bringing Your people, Your church, back to You. What do You say?

spoiled?

Dale Cresap's picture

What attributes do you ascribe to spoiled children? Do you think of them as selfish, undisciplined and self-indulgent? Do you assume that this comes from over-indulgent parents? Adults can have the same qualities to an even greater degree, although they are more subtle in expressing them. Do you refer to adults with the same qualities as being spoiled? Who is to blame for their condition? These characteristics are the opposite of the godliness described in my word. Spoiled fruit cannot be restored to freshness, but marvel at my redemptive power, that even people who are spoiled can come to me and be restored to godly character.

real needs

Dale Cresap's picture

Do you think that you are highly aware of your situation, so that you know about any needs that you have? Could you have any needs that you are unaware of? Most people who come to me do so because of a need they are aware of, such as illness or personal or family crisis, and I end up meeting a need they were unaware of. Your need for reconciliation and redemption is greater than any other need you have. This is true of everyone, but those who are in darkness do not realize it. Let your light so shine before men that they may understand their real needs and come to me to have them fulfilled.

Vision

Dale Cresap's picture

All your life you have known people by what they look like, what they say, and what they do. These are observations that anyone can make. Yet you are a spiritual being, as is everyone you meet. In my word I tell you to no longer know anyone after the flesh. This requires you to disregard the visible physical reality of other people that you may know them according to the spirit. This takes discernment and a deliberate intent to look beyond the superficial, but if you ask of me I will give you this understanding. I do not say it is easy to unlearn habits and be retrained to see this way, but this perspective is the only one that allows you to see the true humanity and spirituality of those you meet.

It is a good morning!

Ben Lunis's picture

Good morning again, Holy Lord! What will You share with me today?

Ben, it is a good morning! They are all good mornings because that is the way I made them!
When they are not "good", it is because they are not viewed from My viewpoint.  As you draw closer to Me, you see more and more like I see. That is why you are having so many more good mornings! Share this message with My people. I want all of them to enjoy

What's More Important Than Bible Study?

Mark Virkler's picture

The following two-way journaling is from Pamela Jones, a Christian Leadership University student, completing the Communion With God course on a graduate level. It is so powerful to hear God speak to all of us His passionate desires for our lives. I thought it was Bible Study. He says it is being in His Presence. Lord, teach us to walk in Your presence!
