Leading Followers

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you been called into a position of leadership? Remember that leaders are also followers, and teachers are also students. I encountered a Centurion who understood this when he told me that he was a man under authority rather than telling me how many men he had under him. If this principle is true in the realms of the military, commerce, and academics, then how much more is it true in my body in which each of my children from the least to the greatest has an individual direct relationship with me? It is gracious for those who are called to lead to emphasize the equality of all believers.

I’ll be out of town for a few days and resume messages later.

Are we giving Satan too much credit?

Ben Lunis's picture

Blessed Lord, I often hear people giving Satan the "credit" for unwanted or "bad" events in their lives. They blame Satan for what has occurred. I recognize that things can just happen, as the huge tree that fell across our deck in a wind storm this week. Lord, how do we separate actual satanic attacks from things that just happen?

Journaling through Matthew - from Rev. David Parker

Mark Virkler's picture

This United Methodist Church hosted a seminar on How to Hear God's Voice, and a few weeks later, the Lead Pastor, Rev. David Parker, put on the welcome center counter the following examples of his personal journaling from the first 4 months of 2012, with a goal to inspire his congregation to hear God's voice through journaling. I pray it inspires you as well.

Old Friends

Dale Cresap's picture

When people ask you how you are doing, do you tell them that you are doing well even when you are not? Is this partly because you don’t want to bother them with your troubles and partly because you suspect they really aren’t that interested? New friends will accept your answer, but old friends will dig deeper to find out what is wrong. If you perceive that the interest and intent are genuine you should tell them. They are only able to help insofar as they know the problem. I already know what is wrong but I still invite you to come and let us reason together. It must be addressed to be resolved.

Jesus is really coming soon!

Ben Lunis's picture

Holy Lord Jesus, what would You share with me today for Your people?

Ben, I want My people to know that I am coming soon. I keep repeating this with the desire for My people to really hear what I am saying to them - I am coming soon! I want them prepared! I do not want them doing their own thing. When they do their own thing, they are not responsive to My leading and thus keep themselves and others from experiencing My great love for them.

Sojourner

Dale Cresap's picture

Do you think of places as being physical locations only? I tell you there are spiritual places as well. I called Abraham to go without telling him the destination. Travel was a part of the process, but the destination was more about being the father of many nations than about a place on the map. I am also taking you on a journey even if you remain in one place. I am transforming you into my likeness. This can occur without your movement, but it is beneficial for you to have the mentality of a traveler, to be aware of your position and progress, and to navigate so that you stay on the path I have set before you, for you have not passed this way before.

I’ll be out of town tomorrow night. See you Saturday.

God's Voice Transformed Me - Lori R. Bell

Mark Virkler's picture

Learning to hear God's voice has been the single most transformational experience of my life, excluding the actual act of accepting salvation.  I have been a born again Christian since I was 17, having grown up in the church, which means I was full of doctrine and religion.  Over the past 20 years, I have audibly heard the voice of God speak to me ONCE, giving me direction to do something. I did not know, nor did I realize a few things: 1) that he was always speaking, 2) I can always hear, and 3) that one time in 20 years could not count as a relationship.

Bad Day?

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you ever had a day when everything went wrong, bringing woe upon woe and sorrow upon sorrow until you thought that the only redeeming feature was that it eventually be over? Do not lose heart. I did not desert you at this time, even if you were not aware of my presence. In the beginning I divided time and punctuated days with nights that you may take them in increments. Don’t worry about tomorrow before it arrives or yesterday when it is gone. Honor me by conforming to the structure of my creation and living in the day at hand. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Tomorrow will be another day, and my mercies will be new again.

Dale,
I had a disturbing dream about my sister Monique this morning that prompted me to contact her to see how she was. She is not doing well mentally and based on the dream I think she is suicidal. Her boyfriend also called this morning not even knowing that I had been in contact with her. Please pray for her. I am flying to Winnipeg to see her tomorrow. Please share this with your distribution as I do believe in the power of prayer and the strength of many. I will be sharing the love of the Lord with her but there is a rift between her and her son that I know is the much of the problem she is having right now.

Thanks,
Francine
