We know prayer is powerful and effects change. We also know there is no time in the spirit world. Timelessness rules there. God's Name for Himself is, "I AM that I AM." He and His Kingdom are forever in the present tense.
It is interesting that in his arguments to the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 15:29, Paul mentions their practice of baptism for the dead as the proof that there is a resurrection from the dead. I have always found it amazing that Paul used that argument. My Bible college professor said, "Just because Paul used this argument did not mean that Paul agreed with being baptized for the dead." Well maybe, but I sure cannot see the value of using an argument to prove your point, when you don't even believe in the argument you are using!
Below is a quote from Dawson Church showing how prayer works in timelessness. It agrees with quantum physics and it agrees with the biblical concept that there is no time in the spirit world. It lends support to Paul’s argument, and it inspires me to pray more widely than I have in the past.
“Another example of the power of prayer across time comes from a study published in the British Medical Journal in 2001. In Israel, Professor Leonard Leibovici took a stack of hospital case histories and divided it into two random piles. The patients in these cases had all been admitted for blood poisoning. Names in one stack were prayed for, while the others were not. On later analysis, the group prayed for was found to have a reduced rate of fevers, shorter hospital stays, and a lower mortality rate.
This kind of finding is typical of prayer studies and would not have surprised most researchers—except that the patients Leibovici prayed for had been discharged from hospital ten years earlier. The healing power of consciousness and intention appears to be independent of time as well as space. Prayer seems to work retroactively as well as across great distances. Perhaps the whimsical injunction is true: “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood!”
