Once I learned to hear God’s voice and do two-way journaling I had a new skill to bring to my writing experience. As far as I am concerned, this is the basic skill of all of life since Jesus did nothing on His initiative, but only what He heard and saw His Father doing (Jn. 5:19,20,30).
Now I could tune to the Holy Spirit and receive the words of Jesus directly into my heart and mind as the Spirit is a River from God which FLOWS within me (Jn. 7:37-39). So I fix my eyes on Jesus, tune to flow, and write. I describe this process in more detail in the 20-minute video below.

Keys God has given me
- Lead with your story. Your story is your sword
- Picture the Lord speaking to the group you are writing for, tune to flow, and write.
- Stop writing when you are not in flow.
- When you awaken the next morning, the flow should be there again. Write till the flow stops.
- Reason together with your reader (Isa. 1:18), using back-to-back pictures of their need(s) and God's provision(s).
- Conclude chapters with application and journaling questions so the Wonderful Counselor can speak to the reader.
- Don't assume people know how to hear God's voice. Add a short teaching on the 4 keys as an appendix to your book and reference it before the first journaling exercise is assigned. I make this freely available to anyone who asks. It is currently in over 80 authors' books.
