Bringing the Voice of God to Your Writing Experience

Once I learned to hear God’s voice and do two-way journaling I had a new skill to bring to my writing experience. As far as I am concerned, this is the basic skill of all of life since Jesus did nothing on His initiative, but only what He heard and saw His Father doing (Jn. 5:19,20,30).

Now I could tune to the Holy Spirit and receive the words of Jesus directly into my heart and mind as the Spirit is a River from God which FLOWS within me (Jn. 7:37-39). So I fix my eyes on Jesus, tune to flow, and write. I describe this process in more detail in the 20-minute video below.

Keys God has given me

1. Lead with your story. Your story is your sword
2. Picture the Lord speaking to the group you are writing for, tune to flow, and write.
3. Stop writing when you are not in flow.
4. When you awaken the next morning, the flow should be there again. Write till the flow stops.
5. Reason together with your reader (Isa. 1:18), using back-to-back pictures of their need(s) and God's provision(s).
6. Conclude chapters with application and journaling questions so the Wonderful Counselor can speak to the reader.
7. Don't assume people know how to hear God's voice. Add a short teaching on the 4 keys as an appendix to your book and reference it before the first journaling exercise is assigned. I make this freely available to anyone who asks. It is currently in over 80 authors' books.
