We are part of a body and none of us are designed to walk this path alone. We each have strengths and weaknesses, and we need each other to help us be all that the Lord has called us to be and do all He wants us to do. God has placed in the body of Christ apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to work together to achieve His purposes. For 35 years I have diligently tried to always have a five-fold team of advisors surrounding me, giving me their insights, counsel and correction to help me stay on track. It has been thrilling to see my children develop in their gifts, some of which are very different from mine, and welcome them into leadership roles in my life and ministry. They have the same Holy Spirit that I do and I honor their ability to hear from Him and speak words of wisdom and knowledge that have helped bring greater success in every way.
Many years ago I wrote the workbook How to Build a Winning Team to help churches understand the need for a five-fold team to lead them, and to help them raise up and develop those teams. The focus of that book is church leadership, because that is where I function.
However, I also believed that the same principles held true outside the church, in businesses and other 
organizations. So I was thrilled when Walt Pilcher took the principles I had learned and applied them to the business world in his book The Five-Fold Effect.
