daily word - reformation

Dale Cresap's picture

Reformation is a term that can be used to apply to individuals who are in need of moral development, but it can also be applied to organizations. The most famous of these is the Protestant Reformation of the church. Do you see this as a one-time event, or is it ongoing or periodic? To bring this question up to date, is the church currently in need of another reformation? If you are currently a part of the church, are you in a position to know the answer? Were those who were a part of the existing church in a position to recognize the need and reform it from within?

daily word - study?

Dale Cresap's picture

Do you study to show yourself approved? There is Biblical support for this and some faith traditions place a great deal of emphasis on study. In a larger sense education is beneficial, but is there a difference between education and transformation? For the Bible also refers to those who are ever learning and never coming to a knowledge of the truth. Can you see the difference between those who have been through the refiner’s fire and those who have only been to school? Which one do you want to be? You don’t have to stop studying to have a transformative encounter with me.

daily word - who is the problem?

Dale Cresap's picture

One thing that conservatives and liberals can agree on is that there is a problem, and they are not the problem. Do you see problems everywhere except in yourself? This issue isn’t limited to political ideologies. It happens in churches too. Is there anyone who thinks that the problem in their church is them, or that their church is the problem in comparison to other churches? Objective reality may suggest that problems are uniformly distributed, but the only ones you are in a position to address are yours. This begins with an awareness of reality.

daily word - move on

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you ever gone through a faith transition that created a difference between you and the people you normally share fellowship with? Did you see it as a step of spiritual growth and maturity? Did they see it differently, perhaps even an expression of heresy or apostasy? Can you see this developmental stage in my own life? If you really are more mature then you should not be the one to break relationships, but there is a time to move on. Did you feel alone as if you were the only one out of step? Don’t worry.

daily word - encounter?

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you had any spiritual experiences? Were these enjoyable? Were they transformative? People seek out experiences for entertainment and enjoyment, without expecting or receiving any spiritual benefit. This is not wrong in itself, and there is a valid human desire to expand by trying new things. How does this play out in the practice of your faith? For spiritual experiences can be more transformative than entertaining. In this case it may be more accurate to refer to them as encounters. Are you able to discern the difference between these?

daily word - burden of proof

Dale Cresap's picture

The burden of proof lies with the one making the assertion. This is a generally accepted rule of logic. It is improper to make an assertion and challenge others to prove you wrong. And it follows that positions with weak support should be held lightly. Do you find that atheists are as adamant that there is no God as believers are that there is? Yet they are putting forth a negative assertion which another accepted rule of logic says is impossible to prove, so do they bear the burden of holding this position lightly? What about you? You put forth positive assertions about me.

daily word - too much money?

Dale Cresap's picture

Is it possible to have too much money? The Bible doesn’t say that money is the root of all evil, but the love of it is. Do you know anyone who thinks they have too much? The Bible doesn’t condemn money as such, but it creates issues you should be wary of. The poor are rich in faith, but it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. You have seen cases where affluence has allowed people to be indulgent and undisciplined, and trust in themselves and their wealth.

daily word - Baptism

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you been baptized? Do you see this as an essential significant milestone in the practice of your faith? How many ways have you been baptized? For John said that he baptized with water, but one would come after who baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire. He was referring to me. Did you see your water baptism as a transformative event? It can have this effect if you apprehend it correctly and are fully invested in it. This is not something to be done casually. What about baptism in fire?

daily word - popular?

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you noticed that being a Christian is less popular than it used to be? Has a favorable impression of Christians several decades ago turned neutral and even become negative by the general population in recent years? Can you face this issue and ask yourself if Christians have done anything to contribute to a declining image? Is it easier to be a Christian when it is a popular thing to do? Yet throughout the span of history and geography there have been times of persecution of believers, and you may be called on to pay a price for your allegiance to a Kingdom not of this world.

daily word - beyond church

Dale Cresap's picture

It is normal for those who are saved to belong to a church. This gives you a sense of belonging and community that everyone craves. Do you derive your identity from your church? How strong a contrast does this create from those outside? One of the doctrines of your faith is that I created all people and love all people. Do you see a possible conflict between these things? Does your connection to your church give you a stronger or weaker connection to all of humanity? In secular circles these forces work in opposition.

Jesus healed all who asked Him and our goal is to be like Him! He commissioned His disciples saying, "Heal those...who are sick, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you'" (Lk. 10:9).

We begin with the assumption that we agree that it is God’s will to heal. Having prayed for healing for people for years, Mark has seen many wonderful miracles and also seen times when it appeared that very little happened. This short teaching describes some practical steps he has learned which make his prayers for healing more effective.

How Do YOU Know? DVDs

by Mark Virkler | 12 Sessions

How do you know? What is the process you use to discover truth? I did not ask that question during the first 25 years of my life. I used eleven different methods for discovering truth including: if my parents said so, then it was so. If my teacher said it was so, then it was so. If my pastor said it was so, then it was so. If my theology said it was so, then it was so. I have discarded them all and adopted a twelfth method, which is in harmony with what the Bible teaches. We teach you this method in this series.

How to Speak in Tongues CD/DVD Set

How to Speak in Tongues CD/DVD Set

by Mark Virkler | 1 CD, 1 DVD | Produced 2010

Speaking in tongues involves a miracle wherein you yield your vocal cords to the flow of the Holy Spirit, trusting that God is forming the syllables you speak into a language. It may be a language of men or of angels (1 Cor. 13:1). You choose to speak (Acts 2:4) but you choose not to form the syllables consciously, and instead let the Spirit give the utterance (Acts:2:4).

How to Walk by the Spirit DVDs

How to Walk by the Spirit DVDs

by Mark Virkler | 6 Discs

Are you like many western Christians who have been taught little about how to sense their spirits? Do you have trouble even defining what spirit sensations feel like within you, much less recognizing them? This training was birthed from Mark’s passion to live out of his spirit, and thus release the anointing of God. The problem he faced was lack of clear biblical definition as to what his spirit felt like. So Mark looked up every verse in the Bible on heart and spirit.
