God’s Highway of Holiness Is SAFE

What protects me from being susceptible to deception? I do want to be receptive to new ideas: I am glad to show the strength of my faith by listening with an open heart and mind to what others have to say and asking questions to ensure I fully understand their point, even if it disagrees with what I believe. I do not want to be a mocker (Jude 1:17-21).

However, I want to ensure that when I hear wrong teaching, I discern it is wrong and do not receive it into my heart.

What protects me from being deceived?

1. I am protected when I “receive a love of the truth” and choose to walk in the truth. With all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness (2 Thess. 2:10-12).
2. I am open to deception when I want my ears tickled. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths (2 Tim. 4:3-4).
3. I must choose to lay down my life for the truth. If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it (Matt.16:24-25).

4. Have spiritual advisors in place: Two or three witnesses (Matt. 18:16). Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory (Prov. 11:14).

5. Use God's paradigm for discovering the truth: It includes the Spirit revealing truth through six different ways that the Bible says God speaks to us. For an article describing this approach, explore “The Leader's Paradigm.” I have used The Leader's Paradigm successfully for the last 40 years of my life.

Prayer: Lord, I choose to receive a love for the truth as Your gift to me. Please birth it in my heart and spirit and inflame this love NOW! Thank You, Lord! Please show me the spiritual counselors You have given me to allow me to walk in victory!
