Wow! This was my first experience ministering group deliverance. I could see 30 faces on the Zoom page I was on, and when I asked how many felt a new level of freedom and release, just about all their hands went up.
This occurred during the fourth and final Zoom session I had at Shawn Bolz' School of Ministry. We had covered Prayers That Heal the Heart training (in a brief overview). I explained all seven prayers and led them in each of the first six prayers during the previous three weekly sessions. Our sessions were only 60 minutes long, but during each of the 4 weeks, they had another 60 minutes of video by me, plus assigned reading and they were instructed to fill in a "Contributing Strands Worksheet" for the heart wound they were working on healing.
So here we are at the 7th prayer, deliverance prayer, and the final week of class. Over 90 were signed in but I could only see about 30 on the screen in front of me. I had asked the Lord what to do and I felt He had said to model deliverance prayer with a very common heart wound, "fear, doubt, unbelief. I could see the wisdom of that as probably many had never seen deliverance in this way. So I led them through the typical deliverance prayer steps that I use. We prayed them together. I repeated them twice, as repetition drives things deeper, and more happens. We probably spent 20 minutes doing that.
I have never done group deliverance before, although my trainer, Derek Prince did it with huge groups. I have always assumed more gets done working one-on-one, or better yet, two deliverance counselors ministering to one counselee. However, I suspected something would happen. We are not going to get all the demons out of anyone with just this one simple prayer, but if we modeled the pattern, and they experienced it, they could do more after the class was done. So we tried it.
I wanted to know after it was over, how many felt a release of some sort. To see almost all of the 30 people I was viewing, raise their hands was inspiring to me, especially since this was the first time I had tried this. So I am sure I will be doing more of this in the future, and am just passing this story on to you to encourage you that 1) such things are possible and 2) in the world of damaged lives that we live in, everyone needs Prayers That Heal the Heart. So folks, let's team up and stretch our faith and step forward and do what needs to be done. Set people free by the power of Jesus' name and the anointing of His Spirit!
