Hangin' with Angels By Charity Kayembe

“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
(Hebrews 1:14)

It is always a joy to hear from readers and those of you who are putting the principles we teach into practice. After the recent free video event of Everyday Angels, I received this fun testimony of a surprising way angels may be of assistance from Debra Guthrie. There are some good principles for us all gleaned from her supernatural encounter, and she's graciously given me permission to share it with you.

First of all, it's encouraging to realize that angels are always with us. The book of Psalms declares that angels "guard you in all your ways" (Ps. 91:11-12). Well, in order to guard us in all our ways, they must be with us all the time! What a comfort to know that we are not alone and never have been. The company of heaven always has our back.

It's also interesting to see that while the angels were there, ready and willing to assist, they did not intervene until they were called upon to do so. We have talked previously about the "Angelic Unemployment Line" many prophetic seers have observed in the heavenlies, and Debra's experience confirms this as well. That is, that angels very much want to help us, but they are waiting on us to invite them into the situation.

Lastly, and perhaps most significantly, is the fact that while Debra did the quite reasonable thing - asking Father God to have the angels help her - He turned that around and specifically instructed her to speak with the angels directly herself. Incredible! While this may come as a surprise, we do find this very thing in Scripture, such as David instructing angels to praise the Lord in Psalm 103:20-21 and also Psalm 148:2, for instance.

Another clear example is when John instructed an angel to give him a book (Rev. 10:8-11). What is important for us to notice about that passage is that John was divinely instructed to get the book from the angel, and then based on that heavenly directive, he in turn directed the angel.

And so it is with us. Just like Jesus, we take our cues from Father God, and then based on His leading, we partner with the company of heaven. Which is precisely what Debra did. She listened to God's voice and acted on it, engaging her angels and receiving their strong support. Thank you, Debra, for sharing your story with us!

Hangin’ with Angels

Dearest Abba,

You were there.

We were all there, and we saw it. So you don’t need a reminder.

But I want a remembrance written in my journal to log the event.

Before the series on angels began, I was thinking about the series, and about angels.

You know how rough this move has been; but you were faithful to my prayers that your angels protect the movers while going up and down the long staircase, keep everyone safe from injury, and prevent anything from dropping and crashing to the first floor. Safety was all I could think of amidst those chaotic and precarious movements. And you and your angels kept us safe!

Anyway, we had asked the movers to unhook the old resident refrigerator in the utility room and install the one we brought.

The work began, but the water line connector kept leaking and the job was quickly abandoned. So, weeks later, Jim and I alone were left to accomplish the mission.

In the process, we discovered we would have to remove the back door from the utility room to the garage in order to pass the refrigerators through the narrow opening.

We struggled to get the pins out of the door hinges. Even after pumping in WD-40 lubrication, Jim had to use a hammer and stakes to drive the pins out, pounding over and over again just to get the slightest budge. Meanwhile, I was tasked with holding the swaying door steady and keeping it in place as best I could. (My efforts would have been humorous, had we been in a laughing mood!) Jim shoved wood blocks and cardboard under the door to prop it up and support its weight.

We finally got the door off the hinges and lugged that monstrosity into the garage. It was SO HEAVY!!! We struggled to move it a mere six feet on level ground, losing grip and almost dropping it several times.

We left the door on its side leaning against the garage wall to continue the exchange process. Jim began removing the refrigerator rollers while I waited.

I was eyeballing that massive door and the ornery, unforgiving doorframe, feeling their staunch defiance as well as my own burning muscle strain from our first wrestling match. This was a job for BIG guns!

I began praying.

“Abba, it is harder to put a door back on the hinges than to take it off. With all our struggles to get this door off, I don’t see how we can get it back on and hung! It is just too heavy to hold in place that long and keep steady. We need help! Would you ask some angels? Would you tell them to help us hang the doors?”

Abba replied, “You tell them.”

I looked from the utility room into the garage, and I saw two big, strong, tall angels that looked like men. I told them, “I need your help holding this door up so that we can hang it. Would you please help us?”

They smiled in assent. I thought, “Okay.”

Jim finished replacing the connector and together we got the refrigerators changed out. Then we turned to the door. I didn’t say anything about the angels; I didn’t want to risk doubt entering in.

Well, Jim and I knew we didn’t have enough strength left to carry the door back, so we devised another plan. We got the door up on its end (grunt) and on top of an old, thick towel (groan) and tried dragging it toward the opening. We heaved and pulled and struggled to keep going, yelping every time the door began to sway forward and backward. We must have looked like two slapstick stars in an old silent movie minus only popcorn and frenzied organ accompaniment!

When we were almost to the doorway, we counted off and together lifted the door up a couple of inches off the floor and took the last three to four baby steps toward the door frame. We set the door down to rest, then seesawed it back and forth as we stuffed the wood and cardboard back under it. Then we lifted the door up toward the hinges.

Effortlessly, the now docile door slid right into place between the narrow hinge openings—first try! It was amazing!

I was so flabbergasted that I swayed backwards. The door slid out three inches, but then caught and went right back into place.

Jim slid the bottom peg in, and it simply dropped into place easily. Another amazing feat! Emboldened, Jim left me holding the door in place by myself (or was it me?) while he oiled the other two pins. And…I (?) held it there and waited!

Jim took the two pins and placed them one at a time at the top of each hinge. The pins simply dropped into place effortlessly!!! This has never, ever happened to us, even with lightweight, inside doors!!!

We finished and then looked at each other. I told Jim, “Okay, I have to tell you something.

“I knew the door was too heavy, impossibly heavy. While you were fooling with the connector, I asked God to have His angels help us hang the door.

“God told me, ‘You tell them.’

So, I looked and there were two big, burly angels. I told them to help us with the door. And you saw what happened; how the door went right into alignment first try and the pins just dropped into place so easily!”

Jim looked at me, blinked, then said, “Well, I wondered why that was so easy!”

So Abba, you did it again! Thank you!

And thanks to you two big guys, too!

(BTW, next time I will be savvy enough to ask for help moving the door, also!)

How to Walk by the Spirit

How to Walk by the Spirit

by Mark and Patti Virkler | 136 Pages | Previous name "Sense Your Spirit"

Are you like many western Christians who have been taught little about how to sense their spirits? Do you have trouble even defining what spirit sensations feel like within you, much less recognizing them? This training was birthed from Mark’s passion to live out of his spirit, and thus release the anointing of God. The problem he faced was lack of clear biblical definition as to what his spirit felt like. So Mark looked up every verse in the Bible on heart and spirit.
