Michelle Francis from Brisbane, Australia sent in the question below.

I have some amazing journaling that is very deep and insightful. Sometimes it takes me a few days to mull over and digest. I would like to journal every day and dialogue with Jesus but find it hard to hear more while I'm still digesting the previous journaling. How do I journal every day without feeling like I am 'moving on' and losing the teachings of the prior days? I don’t want to journal just for the sake of journaling, but for relationship, but having trouble finding the balance?
Answer
Great question. What I do is ponder and savor and continue to do more journaling and biblical reflection for several days or weeks on the topic Jesus is granting revelation concerning. This way the insight continues to enlarge daily within me, and a Scriptural foundation for it continues to emerge. This is the way I end up with a series of blogs on the same topic, or an entire book on a topic. As the revelation unfolds it continues with a life of its own, birthed by the Spirit. I don’t know what the endpoint will be or if this will become one blog, multiple blogs, or a book. I follow the life and unfolding of the Holy Spirit, and when my heart is finally at peace and no more is coming on that topic, then I know it is done for now.
Not that Jesus will not bring me back to the topic a year or two later for another go-around so we can deepen it, see the truth from another angle, or whatever. Health would be an example of this. I now have half a dozen books on health and hundreds of blogs.
A three-blog series on Transformation is an example I just completed and it took me a couple of weeks to get it all down in a meaningful and powerful way. When I submitted it initially to Patti, she said it was too cramped and I needed to expand the revelation from just one blog. She was right, so I rewrote it and expanded it. Now she and I both feel peace in our hearts concerning the blog series as a powerful revelation concerning the steps to spiritual transformation.
I encourage everyone to use the same process.
Two-way Journaling Application
Hearing God's voice is as simple as: 1) quieting myself down (Ps. 62:5), 2) beholding Jesus at my right hand (Acts 2:25), 3) asking for His input and tuning in to flowing thoughts and flowing pictures (Jn. 7:37-39), and 4) journaling out His words and visions (Rev. 1:9-11). These are then tested, and they must line up with Scripture (Ps. 1:2) and be affirmed in the hearts of my spiritual advisors (2 Cor. 13:1).
- Lord, what do You want to speak to me concerning this topic of sticking with You on a topic until my heart says "Ok, let's move on"?
