Lift up your heads, O your gates; lift them up, your ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in. Who is he, this King of Glory? The Lord Almighty – he is the King of Glory. Psalm 25:9-10
Today as we feel intense sorrow and anger over the assassination of Charlie Kirk, this Psalm is especially meaningful.

As I was sitting at my campsite at Pinery Provincial Park, listening to the onshore breeze from Lake Huron and hearing the continuous sounds of nature, with no internet connection. I read the scripture above, and I wondered what it meant.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit will teach you if you ask Him, so I asked the Lord a simple question What does this mean? I felt this is what He said to me:
Son
Every person faces trials, heartaches, heartaches that come from others, heartaches that come from regrets for things they have done. I want to heal those heartaches, no matter why they happen.
The solution is not to look to man, self, things, or experiences to heal a person’s heart. If a person looks to me, if they lift their heads and look to me, I will come into their hearts and heal their hearts. I will not reject them, I will accept them, I will forgive them.
However, it is a person’s choice to do this. A person must choose to stop looking for other things to fill their heartache and look to me, talk to me about their pain, and to do the things I tell them to do, like:
- Forgive a person
- Turn from an addiction
- Focus on my ability to solve the problem and not their own abilities.
If they do:
- I will come into their heart.
- I will heal their heart,
- I will give the peace.
- I will impart rest for their mind from continuous anxiety.

In Genesis 3:24, the Lord said He would “Guard the way back to the tree of life”. “The word “way” here in Hebrew is “derek” which refers to the path you are on, or the way you are going. It is often a spiritual metaphor for how you live your life. Jesus said He is “the way, and the truth, and the life”. He was saying He is "the way back to the tree of life.”
When we face trials, heartaches, or we just don’t know what is the best way to live in our lives, the Lord has promised to help us. He says,” Lift up your heads that the King of Glory may come in”
