Many People Only Hear Me When I Shout

The insightful journaling below is from Pastor Arthur Wesley, a UMC pastor ministering in Salem, Massachusetts and a Christian Leadership University student taking the Communion With God course.

What do You want to tell me about the tool of journaling? How important is it? What do You wish to speak into my life at this time?

I know it has been difficult to develop this way of hearing through two way journaling but it is an important tool for you to grow and discipline yourself to hear my voice. Many people only hear me when I am shouting to them through circumstance or in unusual visions or visitations but I desire you to hear my gentle whispers and my quiet voice within.

You have done this in the past over many years but often back away in insecurity from what you heard and ended up in unbelief. The enemy distracts you and your mind rejects the simplicity of what I said so you turn away.

I am teaching you now to stay in the flow of my Spirit and receive more and more directly from me in your heart. I am stretching your heart to receive more and to be more attentive. I am removing resistance that has built up over years which has keep us from this kind of intimacy.

This is leading you to more and more breakthrough in different areas of your life where you have often struggled. It will help you hear new things and be encouraged when you face discouraging circumstances and face difficult problems. I am above your circumstance and see things differently since I am the Great I AM, who knows all things and is not limited by human experience or reason. Trust me. Go out into deeper waters. Cast your net on the other side of the boat where there is an abundance of fish. (Luke 5:1-7)

What you cannot do in the natural you can do in me for I am in you and you are in me.  Enjoy that unity. Grow in it. Allow it to permeate your whole being. Journaling is one of the many means that will help you be equipped for the ministry and life I have desired for you.  There are many new doors that need to be open in your life that can only be opened if you reach out and grab hold of the door knob and turn it. Journaling while listening is one of those many doors. You shall enter into a greater season of hearing and obedience as you practice these simple principles.

I picture throwing my net on the other side of the boat like Peter and pulling the net in full of fish with surprise and joy. Jesus said:

I have come to give you life and that abundantly. Enjoy the bounty of my love and grace. It is the enemy who wants to keep you in scarcity and lack but I want to give you til it overflows. Let me overflow within you and be your only source.
