How Could I Have Been So Wrong?

Mark Virkler's picture

I was 100% convinced that if I ate right, exercised, and didn’t drink or smoke, I had zero chance of ever having a heart attack. And yet I had one. How could I have made such a cataclysmic mistake? As a teacher of truth I was upset, angry and aghast that I held such a mistruth or half-truth. When I experienced chest pains, my wife had the presence of mind to give me a dropperful of Dr. Schulze’s “Cayenne” in some water, so my pains subsided and I walked into the urgent care facility 10 minutes later.

Are You Experiencing 20/20 Vision?

Mark Virkler's picture

Years ago Derek Prince introduced me to the concept of 20/20 vision. His revelation came from Acts 20:20 which speaks of meeting “publicly and house to house.” Derek’s point was you need BOTH kinds of meetings if you want to experience maximum Christian growth. The public gathering ought to provide more mature fivefold ministry, and the home group more intimate care, sharing and personal ministry. I believe that with the technological advancements available today, the home group category can include internet groups, as these provide interactive live streaming video and audio allowing us to see and hear one another share. Group members can give and receive personal prayer ministry, prophetic ministry, healing and deliverance in these internet groups.

Working Together with Jesus - Journaling by Karin da Silva

Mark Virkler's picture

Revelation and journaling from Mark 16:20, “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.”

When reading this Scripture, the words “worked with them” jumped out to me, since this passage was after Jesus was already taken up in heaven. “Worked with” is from the word “sunergeo” which means “working together”.

How Do I Prepare a Spirit-Anointed Training Encounter for My Small Group?

Mark Virkler's picture

Let's discuss how to prepare for a Spirit-anointed classtime and the seven ingredients within a Spirit-anointed small group meeting. If I can identify and define these steps, I can pursue them. I don't want things to just happen occasionally by accident. I want to know where I am seeking to go, and a good path to get there.

Jesus Heals the Lies - Journaling by Mike Bastien

Mark Virkler's picture

As Mike worked through the training on Hearing God's Voice, the Lord's words and visions that came through two-way journaling eradicated three big lies he had believed all his life.

Jesus, I sit before you this morning, so excited about this journey and yet scared at what I might face or what may come out of my heart. I am so tired of this cycle and living so small. I want to live big. I want to walk with you and know you so intimately that I will wake up a new man. I will look at the years past and be unbelievably thrilled at the newness of life, the bouncing freedom that I now walk in. This is what I see. This is what I envision for the rest of my life. As you spoke to me years ago, that my life consists of 5 chapters... and that my life will end in grace.

Defining Spirit-Anointed Teachers and Spirit-Anointed Teaching

Mark Virkler's picture

Every one of us has experienced fascinating teachers as well as terrible teachers. I have been in groups where man’s ideas were shared and groups where revelation knowledge was shared. I choose to be a fascinating teacher with a fascinating classtime, so I need precise definitions of what these are so I can press into them.

I See the Beauty in the Beast - My TOUCH Heals and Transforms

Mark Virkler's picture

As I turned from being focused on theology to being focused on story, I soon recognized that the heart of the story is God touching our lives. In the Garden of Eden, He touched by walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden in the cool of the day. When Jesus taught, He touched by laying on hands and healing as He ministered in the streets. In revivalist healing crusades, it is the touch of the Holy Spirit that draws the soul to Christ and heals and transforms the body. So it is time for me to add to any theologically-focused teaching the opportunity for people to encounter Jesus directly by being touched by Him.

Is that not what the Toronto blessing is all about – being touched by the Holy Spirit? Is this not what Kathryn Kuhlman's and Oral Robert's healing services were all about? Is the same not true concerning John Wimber's, Bill Johnson's, Billy Graham's and Reinhard Bonnke's meetings, along with so many others which I could mention?

It is time we change our focus from studies about God to encounters with God! We do this by walking and living by the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). This provides continuous ongoing encounter with our Heavenly Father. Not thinking about Him, but encountering Him. Remember, this is the COMMANDED LIFESTYLE, to live and walk by the Spirit. This is the way we are to live. This is the heavenly design. All else is a dead work (Hebrews 6:1,2).

If I Add Whole-Brain Learning to Heart Revelation, What Do I Get?

Mark Virkler's picture

The Bible says that the goal of our instruction is: 1) love from a pure heart and 2) a good conscience and 3) a sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5). Did you notice these three goals are all heart realities rather than mental information? Out of the heart flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). The Holy Spirit is released through our hearts!

It has been said, “Facts are silly things” until they are coupled with underlying principles. I agree, and yet transmitting facts has been the center of so much of our secular and religious education, and the result is the destruction of our creative capacity.
