News: Overexposure, Underexposure, Proper Exposure

Listening to the news media can cause one to crash emotionally and spiritually.

Jesus responds: I am the solid rock upon which you stand. All other ground is sinking sand. So come and be strong. Stand strong amidst the storms of life. It is not for you to collapse when the winds blow. It is for you to come to Me and hear My voice and see Me and commune with Me, and to gain My perspective on all things, especially the storm you are walking through.

For then you shall stand strong. For then you shall stand upon the rock of your salvation. For then you shall be a testimony to all the world that there is a power beyond what they have known and what they walk in. THEN My name is glorified, as you stand upon Me, the rock of your salvation. So again I say, STAND!

God must guide each of us in the decision as to how much news we are to take in during the day, so that we are informed but not overcome or tainted.

Underexposed

When it comes to news I have experienced underexposure, overexposure, and perfect exposure. In my teen years, I belonged to a church that did not promote involvement with the world. I accepted that. In college, I was completely uninformed and uninvolved in the world of politics because I was spiritually minded, and the world was evil.

After college, I was taught that we were close to the end of the age and the rule of the antichrist would be arising. No need to get involved in the political world, as things were destined to get worse and worse, so I continued to ignore all news.

Exposure

Then my theology changed and I believed that of the increase of HIS government there would be no end (Isa. 9:6-7) and we were to disciple all nations, and that God ruled in the affairs of men (Dan. 7). In my journaling God told me to not only be a spiritual leader but also a political leader and to follow His pattern. He was a spiritual leader and also King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So I began paying attention to the news.

Then wickedness took over our nation's leadership. I was hearing cries that this is the prelude to the end of the world and the rise of the Antichrist, and there was nothing we could do other than run, cower, hide, and be dismayed.

When I listened to God, He told me it was darkest just before the dawn and to prophesy that He was still in control, allowing evil to rear its ugly head so people could see it and be disgusted by it and turn away from it in revulsion. This would precipitate the greatest revival in the history of the world.

So I spoke this, and wrote over 100 blogs in the last few years, encouraging people to be believers in our living God who was still in control and was calling us into the actions of praying for our government, and getting involved in any way He was asking us to.

My daily prayer continues to be: “Lift up righteousness, expose and remove wickedness, revive Your Church. Anoint and protect the righteous. Turn the way of the wicked back upon them. Teach Your Church to live out of Your voice, and anoint her with power."

Overexposure

Then I got depressed by becoming overwhelmed by too much news and too much revealing of evil (even though I did realize that it was God’s answer to the prayers we all had been praying for God to expose and remove evil). Twenty-four-hour news through TV, internet, and X was too much.

Correct Exposure

So then the Lord spoke this. Mark, you are to limit the amount of news from the world that you take in. I am ready to tell you what you are to take in, who, how much, and for what purpose, and what to do with it. JUST ASK ME!

And you MUST do what Daniel did. He prayed 3 times a day. You must spend MORE time in communion with Me than you do being exposed to newscasters.

The Lord went on to give me specific instructions as to the purpose I was to expose myself to the news.

If you are an intercessor or spiritual warrior, pulling down principalities, you will spend the appropriate amount of time with the news so you are informed and can fulfill your mission. As a teacher, I am to spend enough time to be informed so I can pass great news on to you. Each of us has our commissions from God.

As far as God’s recommendation as to who to listen to. It was “Coffee and Covid” morning blog. This short, easy read gave a positive highlight as to major events that happened in the last 24 hours, provided with a spiritual perspective. That would be enough to fulfill my news quota, so I could adequately fulfill my role as a Spirit-anointed teacher, blogging out revelatory insights for Spirit-filled believers. He told me NOT to expose myself to news that contained half-truths, lies, disdain, scorn, or anger as it would taint my spirit.

The Lord reminded me of Elisha and his vision of chariots of angels surrounding and protecting him (2 Kgs. 6:8-23).

Mark, it is My divine perspective you need on each day's news. That is what avails. That is what sets the captive free. That is what released My kingdom wisdom and power into your situation. The news I tell you to expose yourself to MUST be coupled with open eyes and an open heart so you can receive My revelation and release My kingdom. This IS PROPER EXPOSURE FOR YOU! He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (This phrase is repeated 20 times in the New Testament!)

1. Lord, what role have You called me to fulfill in Your kingdom?
2. How much exposure to news does this require, and who should I receive it from?
3. What news am I NOT to expose myself to?
4. Lord, in my life, relationships, or business …
   1. What's good that I am to promote, protect, and celebrate?
   2. What's broken that I am to creatively contribute to, or help fix?
   3. What's missing that I am to innovate?
   4. What is evil that I am to resist?

I commune with God by: 1) becoming still, 2) beholding Jesus, 3) tuning to His River of flowing thoughts, pictures, and feelings, and 4) recording the flow. Then I test it using Scripture and the hearts of my spiritual advisors. See this link.
