Practicing Spontaneity Together - Look Where It Took This Group!

My husband and I attended the three week Leaders' School of Ministry in Toronto in 2008 and after sending for Dr. Mark Virkler’s DVD set and the books on “How to Hear God’s Voice,” in September 2009 I set up a 'Hearing God's Voice' group consisting of nine of our church members - eight ladies and one man.  Week by week we met together in our homes, watched the DVDs, followed the book and began to journal.  It has been wonderful to see how people have grown and developed such a lovely, intimate relationship with the Lord over that time.  It has been an amazing journey.

Initially when we met together we would just share our journals.  We were encouraged when we found God saying the same thing to different people in the group, sometimes even using the same phrases.

As it became easier to hear God’s voice, we began to ask: “Lord, what do you want to say to … (another member of the group)?"  We would write down what we heard and share with the other person.

From there, as we became more confident, we began to speak out what we felt God was saying.  This was more challenging but the foundation of ‘Hearing God’s Voice’ was already laid and we were able to build on it.

We also asked the Lord for words of knowledge (as in Mark’s book).  As a result we have seen both physical and emotional healing in our group.

Another thing we did which was very rewarding was to journal through the Song of Solomon.  I found Jonathan Hindsley’s prophetic meditation “Come Away With Me” on the CWG website and used his questions as a basis for our journaling.  We took a full year, meeting every two weeks, to go through the whole book journaling only two or three verses at a time.

I felt it was important to introduce different activities in order to keep things fresh and to have fun.  One thing we did which was great fun was word association.  We would pick a random word from the Bible and then each in turn would speak the first word that came to mind.  This was one of the ways we practised spontaneity – not trying to analyse our thoughts, just speaking them out.  The more we did it, the greater the flow.

Over the time we have been meeting, we have become very comfortable with one another.  We feel our group is a ‘safe place’ where no one feels threatened.  The Lord has created a great bond between us which is very precious.

On Wednesday 22^nd January 2014, we met together and shared our journals as usual.  Then we invited the Holy Spirit to take over and lead us where he wanted.  I believe that what followed is a culmination of all that we have learned and practised over the past few years.  This is what happened:

Some of us had recently had words from the Lord about open doors and doors of opportunity.  So, we thought maybe we should go through the door!  We stood up and prophetically opened the door and we each walked through it.  We asked, ‘What can we see, where are we?’  We began to see in the Spirit and people began to speak out what they could see.  We were in a room with a winged chair and a table with a very large book on it, like an old family Bible.  We made the action of opening the book and on the first page was a large letter ‘A’.  It was an illuminated letter such as is seen in the Lindisfarne Gospels.  Different people spontaneously spoke out different meanings for the letter ‘A’ – advance;  action and activate;  adventure;  angelic visitation.

We turned the page again and we all looked to see what was there.  There were plans, like an architect’s plans - a blueprint with all the dimensions and details.  The more you looked the more details you could see.  This was what the Lord was building.  There was a list of all the materials that were needed.  (One lady saw a picture of the seaside on the right hand page – a bright sunny day.  The waves were rolling in getting bigger and bigger and bigger.)

We looked and in the room there were shelves of books and scrolls with a big library ladder that rolled back and forwards.  We looked up at the shelf and counted “a, b, c, d…” and took down the scroll for Derwentside (which is the area where we live).  We unrolled it on the floor – it was huge so we spontaneously stepped back.  It was like being in the war room with the map spread out.  Every street of Derwentside, every house, but then every person that was in that house was on the map.  There was a river that ran through the middle.  The river was crystal clear with pebbles in and what looked like pieces of gold gleaming in the river, which represented people who had been washed in the river.  The river lapped over the streets.  In the corner of the map there was a well.  There were tiny little shoots that were springing up all over the map and that was where the Word of God had been planted (Scriptures literally buried in the ground) throughout Derwentside – at the high places, at the gateways.  The shoots were watered by the river and they grew into trees.

When we had seen all, we rolled the map up again and put it back up on the shelf.  We turned the next page and there was a pressed plant on the page.  It was feverfew - a healing plant – healing for the nations.  There was a fragrance rising from the page.  The fragrance became stronger – most of us could smell it and some could even taste it.  The Lord was saying that as people took from the plant and smelled it the fragrance could not diminish, that was why it was increasing.  We felt to breathe it in.

There was an overwhelming sense of peace and we felt we were in the “resting room”.  We had to stay and linger there.  There was no sense of rush or that we were wasting time.  One by one, we felt to sit on the floor.  It was like we were emptying our minds of things that didn’t need to be there and someone came along and wheeled those things away.

Some could see little red things on wheels, whizzing about which were getting words of knowledge for people we are going to meet.  On the shelves were the books relating to everyone that we know.  The words were on little rolls of paper like the pieces in a promise box and on those pieces of paper were God’s words of life to replace the negative words that had been spoken over people.

We felt we should put our hands out and receive these words.  We put our hands out and we received a scroll, but it wasn’t for us.  It was for someone that we would meet and it wasn’t to be opened now.  It was like a diploma – it had ribbon on and a seal, the seal of the King.

One had a quill inside the scroll which meant the words would be written when we needed them, as we were speaking them out.  Words of life.  The scroll had the fragrance on it.  We lingered for some time in the wonderful peace of that room.

This was the most amazing experience any of us has ever had.  What was so wonderful was that we could see with our eyes open.  Not everyone saw everything all the time but there was always more than one person experiencing the same thing at the same time and we all went with the flow.  There was nothing forced about it – it happened very naturally, it flowed.  There was a sense of amazement and excitement throughout the whole experience.

Wednesday 22^nd January 2014

“See what happens when you walk through doors that I open for you?  I open doors no one can shut.  You are entering into new realms of me.  I said that HGV (Hearing God’s Voice group) would seek my face and from that strategies would flow to the church.  It is my powerhouse – my place of revelation to you, where you seek my face and I share my plans and vision with you for my church, this area and the people who you meet.  Don’t stop now.  You have access to so much more than you have even grasped yet.  Activate what I show you – keep coming to me.  Holy Spirit will show you the way.  The days are short before I will do a new thing in your midst.  I come in power and in glory.  I bring revelation and encouragement.  I will be with you and I will show you the way ahead.  I will lay it all out before you – if you are willing to follow where I lead.  Just as you lay in the resting room, deep wells bring refreshing and contain living water.  Sometimes it is OK to be still and soak in my presence.  Lay down to rise and run.  Dwell with me in these heavenly places and our journey together will get even more interesting.”

Thank you Lord for that amazing experience tonight – being in the strategy room and showing us the books and scrolls.

“It’s my pleasure, that is what I long to do but not many of My children come.  I’m so glad you went with the flow and walked through the door.  That is what I desire you to do.  I have much more to show you and reveal to you.  I wanted to show you how easy it is when you follow My Spirit and go where He leads you.  Don’t think about it - just be.”

I thought it was amazing how we could see with our eyes open.

“Yes, you were focusing on the things that were unseen and are eternal.  You saw and you spoke out, you spoke out and you saw.  It’s that step of faith.  It’s going where My Spirit leads you – using all your senses.”

Lord, help me to speak those words that are written on that scroll to the right person at the right time.

“Don’t strive – just be, just go with the flow and what happened tonight will happen again because it is easy when you draw from that Spirit that is within you.  Just as you saw tonight, you can see again.  I want to use the skills I am teaching you for others.  Follow the fragrance of My Spirit and He will lead you where I want you to be.

I am glad you lingered in the resting room.  Many people miss that because they don’t stay long enough. In their eagerness to see what’s on the next page they miss out on what I have to give for others.  Don’t worry - I will reveal the next pages at the right time.  Remember to examine each page and see every detail.  The longer you look the more you will see.  As you look with others, different aspects will be revealed – you will build the bigger picture.”

Rev 4 “After this I looked and there before me was a door standing open in heaven………. Come on up here.”

I was thinking about how we had walked through the door and was there an actual door.  Tell me more about going through the door, Lord.

“It is about going through the door and the key is - the door is open.  Jesus’ death unlocked the door for My children to have open access.  All you need to do is walk through it just as you did on Wednesday night.  It seemed a simple act and made so much difference to what you saw.  You went to a different level; you passed from earth to heaven just by stepping through the door.  That is how easy it is.  No need to make these things more complicated than they need be.

The door is open, the road is cleared, access is easy and clear.  It is the door to revelation – look what I showed John and you, too, can see the same thing.  It’s out of this world but in the realm you belong to.  You are a citizen of heaven.  It is your right, your inheritance to see these things, to see deep within My heart, to open up and unpack the plans I have for each one of you.”

Wow, that is just awesome, Lord. I never thought about it like that, Lord.

“I know but I have led you to it, now you are ready to see these things.  Now I can entrust you with the secrets of My heart.”

Thursday 23^rd January 2014

What a night we had last night, Lord.  It was amazing and as we responded the flow increased and carried us along.  Such things were opened up – it was awesome, Lord!  And everyone took part and was involved – it was teamwork.  Thank you, Lord, you are amazing.

“I think you are amazing, too.  You listened and obeyed and I was able to take you up to a new level.  You received just a glimpse of what is possible.  This is only the beginning, child, there is more to come – much more.  Keep practising and I will show you even greater things.”

Thank you, Lord.  Will you talk to me about the things you showed us last night, Lord?

“I took you to the strategy rooms which are part of my command centre.  This was an ante-room where the plans and maps are kept.  It is enough for now for you to know that I have a plan for your area.  I have a plan for the people who live there.  I know them and they will know me.  My river will flow and bring an abundance of blessing to all who will receive.  Pray for your towns and villages and for the people who live there.  Prepare the way for I am surely coming.

Tell about me at every opportunity you get.  Do not hold back, do not be afraid.  Open your mouths and I will fill them.  Sow the seed of my word.  Do not be concerned if some falls on stony ground – it is your job to sow”.
