Sugar Industry Hid Science Linking Sugar to Heart Disease

Mark Virkler's picture

This unbelievable, deliberate cover-up and the outright lies have cost untold multitudes to die an early death.

The sugar industry hid scientific evidence showing that it was sugar that contributed largely to heart disease, and instead falsely blamed heart disease on saturated fats!!!

The sugar industry paid scientists in the 1960's to downplay the link between sugar and heart disease and promote saturated fat as the culprit instead, newly released historical documents show.

The documents show that a trade group called the Sugar Research Foundation, known today as the Sugar Association, paid three Harvard scientists the equivalent of about $50,000 in today’s dollars to publish a 1967 review of research on sugar, fat and heart disease. The studies used in the review were handpicked by the sugar group, and the article, which was published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, minimized the link between sugar and heart health and cast aspersions on the role of saturated fat.

Click here to read about this complete scandal, or simply decide to quit sugar and switch to honey, maple syrup, stevia and possibly erythritol. (NEVER use the TOXIC sugar substitutes containing aspartame such as Equal or NutraSweet. Products made from succralose and saccharin should also be avoided.)

Honey is about 50% fructose. Maple syrup is almost entirely sucrose, which is a disaccharin of glucose and fructose. There’s some other nice stuff in maple syrup and honey, but they’re still essentially as sugary as sugar. You don’t need it. It’s only in recent decades that humans have added so much sugar to our foods. Snack foods and drinks load up the sugar for an artificial “feel good” factor. If you want fructose, eat real fruit. It will actually have a lot less sugar than a “fruit juice drink”, and compensate with fibre. Among other things, this will help your body understand how much it is consuming. Would you eat 8 apples or oranges in a sitting? Yet a commercial drink, even a “fruit juice”, can contain that much sugar...

Approx.45 years ago I read a book “Sugar Blues” the author was hooked on sugar in coke drinks. He told of the history of sugar & how the merchant ships brought it and only the rich could afford to buy it and started getting sick. Their Dr. knew it was the sugar but did not want to loose his high paying patients so called the disease Diabetes without telling them what was making them sick. The cover up has continued to this day so much so that there is sugar in almost everything we consume. It is believed to cause more highway deaths than drinking and driving. People buy pop, shocolate bars, candy when headed out on the highway not realizing they have a sugar “High” and then about an hour or so later they have a sugar “low” and fall asleep at the wheel. Sugar is known to be as addictive as some drugs, I Don’t know if it is possible to find a copy of that book or not.
