You hear me speak far more than you realise but you only really hear what you want to hear

Mark Holloway's picture

God I’m waking up in the cabin down by the river. Last night’s fire is still there, the sun’s just coming up over the hill and into the valley. Birds gossiping, dog stretching. The day’s turned up and it seems like you’ve turned up with it.

And you’ve got something to say haven’t you?

I have.

You just said it before as I was waking up didn’t you?

I did. Tell me what you think I said.

God did you just say something about our circumstances?

Mark Holloway's picture

Did you say something about circumstances and what they have to do with the meaning of life??

I did. I’ve got a lot to say about circumstances. Unfortunately, so have many others. Too often they make light of other’s pain to support their own positive philosophy. They say ‘what are you doing under the circumstances?’ to people who have no possible way of extricating themselves from their situation.

Healed from Church Abuse by Julia Parker

Mark Virkler's picture

God speaks to Julia in her journaling: Daughter of Love and Mercy, You were in the crossfire of a very serious problem that had arisen in that church. There was contention and strife already present even before you entered. Just as you learned yesterday from your old friend as she spoke of an experience her husband had while talking to the pastor of your old church and how the pastor told your friend's husband that his church was not a democracy but a theocracy, so no one was allowed to voice their opinion or even have a say in any matter but the pastor and that only the leadership was allowed to do the stuff. This is what I call control and authoritarian leadership.

God I'm all religioned out.

Mark Holloway's picture

Good. Me  too. I’m waiting in the wings  for a chance to be real. In your face, talking all the time, that kind of real.

Ok then. If that’s the case, then there’s something I want to mention. Is that ok?

Absolutely. Go ahead.

Ok. God I like this idea of constant conversation with you about everything.

Good. Me too again.

God could you please whisper so no one hears this?

Mark Holloway's picture

No I’m not going to whisper. I want everyone to hear this Mark. I want to know why you all think you have to grovel when you talk to me? Am I really that bad?

You’re pretty scary. And anyway I’m pretty bad. You know the drill God. You’re righteous, I’m not. You’re holy, I’m wicked.

Who told you all that?

Don’t try and wipe your hard drive. You can’t. And that’s a good thing. It shows how much I respect you.

Mark Holloway's picture

Mark I want to explain how your history, everything that has happened in your life. The incredibly painful things, the beautiful things. The terrible mistakes and the wonderful highlights. All of your history is VERY important to me. It’s your life. Which is why it’s important to me - you give it value. I love you, as a result I love your story. I don’t want you to wipe it and start again, you can’t anyway. Wherever you go you take your history.

You think like me

Mark Holloway's picture

God it’s 16.15hrs. I’m making good progress. In an hour I’ll be dropping anchor at Slipper Island off the coast of New Zealand. We’re right on course, right on time. What a great day! The Alderman’s rising out of the sea far off to the North East. They’re a grumpy, serious council of islands leaning over the horizon to watch me approach. Over behind us to the South West Mayor Island lies long, low and cloud capped. This is awesome God. Say something.

Loneliness

Mark Holloway's picture

Mark let’s talk about loneliness. Everyone suffers it. Change of life, times when you move away from friends or they from you. When your kids are no longer dependent on you. Crisis brings it too. Illness, disagreements, death. Suddenly those you hold dear are gone. I want to talk to you about that.

I wish you wouldn’t.

Why?

It’s not a subject I like to think about.

Be careful not to grasp at meanings that aren't there in the Bible in order to justify your own ideas.

Mark Holloway's picture

God what do you want talk about?

Things that will make you unpopular.

Why on earth would you want to do that?

Because they are things that need to be spoken.

Why say them to me?

Because you’re listening.

Yes but others are too. Plenty of others are listening. Tell them!
