God?

With your permission Mark I’d like to go over old ground. I want to discuss things we’ve already discussed.

Go for it God. You’ve got the floor.

Thanks. Do you have any idea how rare that is? For me to be given total freedom of speech? You Christians seldom let me talk about what I want.

You all tell me how I must behave, you demand that I be cross and that I must focus on certain things. Instead of allowing me to speak when I want, about what I want you have times that I’m free to speak, and subjects that I’m free to speak about. But outside that you have me under tight control.

Contrary to what you all think about me I am ok with that. I am happy that we talk about what you want to talk about. Love is like that. It would like to talk about other things, but it puts its own desires on hold for the one it loves. I love you.

Ok. Wow. That’s pretty big God. I’m not sure what to say. You said you want to cover old ground?

I do. I want to talk about things that I’ve said to you before. You need to hear them again. Others do too.

What?

That I’m not a harsh God.  That I don’t judge you often. That I’m not busy making up rules for you to follow. And neither am I focused constantly on the rules you think are in the book. So many of the rules you think are in the book – you didn’t actually get from its pages – instead you heard someone else preach them to you. You never took the time to read the passage yourself or ask ME what I meant by it, instead you happily accepted what you were taught. It takes courage to ignore commonly held ideas. Courage that is never common in any group of people.

So what are you saying? That the bible isn’t accurate??

Not at all. But I am saying that your knowledge of it is far from accurate - and that is true of the majority of you Christians today. The reason is simple. By far the greatest amount of what you all ‘know’ of the bible is what you have been taught by someone else. And those who taught you were in turn taught by others before them.

It’s time that men, women and children heard the things of God from the mouth of God.

But he answered and said, “It is written: 'A man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” MATT 4:4 ARAMAIC BBLE

Whether it’s something from the bible or an event in your life. I want you to get what I am saying straight from me. Not from others, but from me. It’s far easier to listen to a sermon, watch a Christian TV programme, read a book, or do an established bible study. Whatever happened to listening direct to me?

Is that a rhetorical question God, or do you want it answered?

I’ll answer it myself and the answer is simple. The enemy is absolutely committed to training you all in a whole myriad of activities that are focused on me, and yet those same activities prevent you from listening to me direct.

I want you to think about that Mark. You and anyone else who wants to know more. If you have the courage – think hard about it. Don’t leap to defend all those God-focused activities that prevent you from hearing me - instead think hard about what I’ve said. And then ask me what I’d like you to do about it, in your own life. Truth takes hold first in your own life.
