I want relationship - actual conversation; not this religious praying and singing at me, not this jumping through hoops to please me, not this infernal focus on sin.

God yesterday I think I heard you say that if we don’t ask you about certain subjects then we won’t hear what you’ve got to say about them? I think that’s what you said??

Yes that was me.

And I think you said that if we want to know which subjects you actually want to talk about, we need to ask you. That we actually need to ‘ask you what to ask you’?

Yes of course. Otherwise you won’t know which subjects are the important ones at any particular moment.

Don’t make it sound like it’s so obvious God, it’s NOT!! It’s not something we get taught about, that’s for sure. So how come you make it sound like it’s so obvious??

Because it IS obvious and you all WOULD know about it if you bothered to ask me But very few of you do. There are so few who are focused on listening to me and even fewer who know that ANYONE is welcome to have a back and forward conversation with me, no matter who they are and what their life is like.

God have you noticed that this is all we ever talk about? I’m glad I don’t want to be a big Christian Teacher or something – my chances would be fairly limited, I only ever write about one subject!!

Why though!?!

Because you are all so woefully ill-equipped for life. The very purpose of life, a back and forward conversation with the inventor of life, has escaped you. You think you’re here for various reasons, all of which are incorrect. Some of you think you’re here to ‘leave your mark’ on history, and yes that’s important, I want all of you to have an effect while you’re here, but it’s not the main focus, it’s a by-product of the real reason you exist. If you focus on a back and forward conversation with me you will leave a much bigger mark on history than you would otherwise.

Some think you’re here to become better people, or to learn self-control. Once again that is NOT the purpose I created you for, it’s simply a by-product which for some takes longer than others.

Some think you’re here to create wealth or to help others – but actually none of those things is the reason for living.  All of them are necessary but none of them are the reason for life in the first place.

Why do you think I created you?

Well God we get taught that you created us for ‘relationship’ but then we sinned so you had to come and die and now the whole focus is on accepting your forgiveness for our behaviour, then reading the bible, getting together to sing and pray at you, and then striving to be better people.

Yes exactly. That’s the problem. I don’t want you focusing on being better people, I want you focusing on talking with me. ACTUALLY TALKING. LIKE FRIENDS - that kind of talking. But instead you’re all consumed with making yourselves and others better people. That idea came from the one who tells you that you’re all bad people.

If you studied the writings of Paul, or Peter, or David, or Moses - if you looked at the Hebrew and Greek and asked me what they were really saying, you’d end up realising that your ‘sin, forgiveness and salvation religion’ is not what the bible is actually about.

If you read those bible writers and asked me what I was saying instead of relying on what Religion has taught for millennia, you’d discover that I just want a conversation. Every single bible hero was making mistakes just like every other average human – but they were in conversation with me. Many of them were worse people than the worst people you know. Paul, David, Moses and Peter – just those four – all of them were worse people than the worst person you know Mark.

God you say this sort of thing so often that I’m worried these conversations will bore people!

Mark I will keep saying it because people have been bound up and trapped – gagged and downtrodden by Religion and his henchmen and their writings and systems. They have been convinced in my name that they are bad and need to improve – while that lie pervades the halls of Christianity I will continue to say it and say it and say it Mark. I’M NOT FOCUSED ON YOUR BEHAVIOUR OR WHAT YOU’VE DONE WRONG!! I’m just not. I am focused on a conversation, a relationship, but without requiring improvement first. That was the whole point of calvary. I DID IT. Will you all please stop trying to do it yourselves please.

The reason you exist is simple. I wanted relationship, actual conversation, not this religious praying and singing at me, not this jumping through hoops to please me, not this infernal focus on sin. I just want to talk. That’s all.

" He is the God who made the world and everything in it. // His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him--though he is not far from any one of us.” ACTS 17:24 and 27

That’s the reason you exist. You can’t do anything as well as you’re built to do it, if you’re not in conversation with me. From financial endeavours to great sporting pursuits – and all the other many and varied reasons you humans think you’re here – nothing can be done as well as it could be if you’re not in conversation with me. Actual conversation – talking to me, hearing from me. Back and forward, the kind the liar convinces you is impossible.

Imagine a mind like Einstein’s in constant conversation with the one who invented the mind, who invented relativity. Imagine a strategist like Churchill in conversation with the master strategist.

Seems a bit too sort of ‘Christian’ God – almost like a naïve short-sighted ‘Christian’ solution to life.

I beg to differ Mark. How many Christians do you know who are seriously engaged in a back and forward conversation with me? It’s not the norm, not taught, not accepted or understood by the great teachers. It’s not very ‘Christian’ at all. Would you like to change that?

Love to.

Why?

Because I’ve seen that having a conversation with you sets Christians free.

That’s a dangerous comment Mark. Christians are already supposed to be free.

Well I’d been a Christian for 35 years before I discovered this by accident, and I CERTAINLY wasn’t free.
 
Exactly. You Christians are the people who believe I exist but you are missing the other element of the faith equation. Faith is believing both that I exist AND that I care enough to respond to those who seek me.
