One thing children look forward to each summer is getting out of school and enjoying the fun the summer months bring. Part of that fun may be summer camps for many kids. Camp is a great place to get away from the normal routine and see things from a different perspective. It’s also a place where new relationships are formed, some of them having everlasting impact on their lives!
Being a “camp kid” from early on in my life made a huge difference in how I saw many things growing up. I always cherished the time I had in learning and experiencing new things - a summer camp can be the switch that turns your child’s direction! Our ministry, Fire For the Nations, hosts a summer camp each year that is designed to not only make the “fun” happen in their lives, but to bring them into one of those “life-changing” relationships with the One who created them!
This year, our theme is “Temple Builders”, where we’ll learn about the Tabernacles and Temples of the Bible and apply them to our lives, as we ARE the Temple of the Holy Spirit (I Corinth 3:16). There are amazing similarities between the articles in the Temple and our own spiritual lives – we will be comparing these to what WE are called to be and how to create a “Temple Atmosphere” in our own lives and homes.
Included in this awesome revelation is bringing the children (and adults!) into the very Presence of Father – intimacy is one of the core building blocks of the Temple, and we want to help forge these kids’ walk with the Lord in a deeper, clearer way! They CAN hear from Jesus themselves, as we’ve taught for years, and its time NOW for them to build that “hiding place” where they can lean on His words, wisdom and love!
At Kids Camp “Temple Builders”, there are three soaking prayer sessions a day – sometimes more as the Lord leads. We have routinely seen that by the second or third day, the children are asking “when are we going to soak again” and look forward in anticipation to what Jesus is going to show them or speak to them! God meets these little ones who have pure, trusting hearts and changes lives every year with His touch during camp.
Fun? Ok, how about creating your own team’s music video, then recording it and bringing it home – or tackling the worlds largest ice cream sundae – how about “Slime Day” when the ketchup, mustand, water, shaving cream and other “surprises” await those brave enough to participate – or crazy games and relays which make points for your team and prizes galore! All this and swimming, campfires, treats, scavenger hunts, music, high “kid approved” energy and so much more!
This exciting week is not just for the kids – Kids Camp has been designed for the entire family, with classes held during the week for the parents and leaders who attend. Topics such as Missions for Kids, Discovering Your Child’s Calling, Creating a Temple in Your Home, and more are included. Resourcing, encouragement and fellowship are such an important part of Kids Camp for the adults. We want to help equip YOU to equip your CHILD! There are wonderful testimonies from the parents of watching their children come into a new place of worship and relationship with Jesus right before their eyes! Parents who not only see a change in their kids, but walk away with new understanding and revelation about who their children are and what God has called them to! Many of our parents and leaders are also brought into freedom and revelation by times alone with Father during our prayer times!
The campground we use is very rustic, beautiful and out of the way, but Jesus always shows up every day in so many ways! He’s in the fields playing games with the kids, sitting by the campfire and sharing S’mores with a new friend, walking thru the group enjoying their worship, or whispering new words of love and direction to a tearful child deep in prayer.
We live in perilous times, and the need to equip our children to build that safe, directional place with God is imperative. Teaching them intimacy, walking with Father and about the destiny He has for them NOW are all issues they MUST learn for this time in history. What better time and place than this summer with fun, fellowship, and family?
