When you encounter unmarried unbelievers living together, do you think they should get married? Would this put them in a state of holy matrimony? This would not deal with their true condition and needs. Wouldn’t it be better for them to come to me? Then they could inquire of my intentions for them. Isn’t it possible that I would say, Go (your separate ways) and sin no more? If this is the case, wouldn’t it be better if they were not married? If you have a high regard for the sanctity of marriage then you should not recommend it to be entered lightly or unadvisedly. I am the Lord who turns two into one.

Thanks for the post Dale. I've often had thoughts for unbelieving unmarried couples to tell one of them that they really need to marry - and that it is not God's intention that we remain living together but unmarried. But it's refreshing to "lead them to the Rock that is higher than I" resting the Lord's wisdom. Jesus says, "come to Me" and again He says, "to him who is thirsty let him drink of Me." We are to lead people to Christ - He will deal with the mess.

Hmmm...thanks Dale...thought provoking blogpost. I'm going to chew on this one for awhile and get back to you. My wife are in marriage ministry, www.marriagemosaic.org and are currently engaged in a pre-marriage mentor relationship with them. This is in fact what I think you are suggesting...walking alongside, in this case, two believers, and guiding them in a deeper understanding of God's creation and intention for a marriage relationship.
