Holy Spirit Magic at the Magic Kingdom

Jesse Birkey's picture

Disney Land.  The Magic Kingdom.  The happiest place on earth.  Whatever.  Try telling that to all of the screaming kids, and parents who look like they’ve been run over by a truck.  There are fun parts though.  Like when you’re leaving the parking lot headed home or to the hotel.  Do I sound bitter?

I may be exaggerating a bit.  I have a good time if I don’t have to go very often.  In fact, my last trip there was a blast.  We bought tickets for Night Of Joy, a collection of Christian bands that perform all over the park.  Concerts start in the evening when they close the park to the day guests, and run till after 1 AM.  Yeah, we are some serious partiers.

We saw Jamie Grace, Lecrae, a crazy Florida thunderstorm (not the name of a band.  We actually got caught in a storm.), and finished the night with Skillet.  It was great.

Sometime early on I began to notice many people with casts and braces on arms and legs.  I also started to think about how awesome it would be if they got healed.  It was a little overwhelming because there were so many.  I decided to just stay put until I felt the stir of the Holy Spirit inside.  I’ve discovered over the years that it’s best to just wait for God’s leading in situations like that.

We were about halfway through the Lecrae concert when I noticed a young woman with a brace on her left arm.  Somehow the Lord was able to get my attention in the midst of all my sweet hip-hop moves.

I caught the Lord’s whisper to my heart, “That’s the one.”

I waited until the concert was over, and then nudged my son, asking him to hold on a sec.  I tapped the girl on the shoulder.  “Hey would it be okay if we prayed for your arm?”

“Yeah,” she responded.  “That would be great.”

I nodded as my son stepped beside me.  “What happened?”

She explained how she broke her finger and the following surgery.  As we began to pray, the Lord started showing me different things in her life he wanted to minister into.  It was amazing as the great, and mighty love of God poured over her.  The words came about how he saw her, and how proud he was of her.  The message was a shower of gems onto a heart in desperate need of encouragement and hope.

At the end she sniffed and wiped a tear from her cheek.  “Thank you so much.”

I draped my arm around my son as we strolled away.  I don’t know if she was physically healed or not.  By faith I believe that she was.  But it’s not very important for me to know.  I know that the all-consuming love of God touched her heart.

There are always going to be people around who need God to touch their lives.  If you love Jesus you have so much to offer.  You have life within you that can raise dry, dead bones to life again.  Take great courage, and let it out as the Lord leads in each unique situation.

Blessings,

Jesse and Kara Birkey
